flats

capris (Suzy Shier); top (Walmart); flats (Payless); ring (Banana Republic)

I am a shoe gal.

Love every kind of shoe - running shoes, sandals, peep-toes, flats, heels. I LOVE heels.

I do have a new appreciation for flats though. I wear them to work, from work and on weekends. Is it a sign of getting older that I can't handle high heels for long periods of time anymore?? Eek!

Going into Payless last week, I saw tons of super cute flats at great prices - so, in true shoe-nista fashion - I had to pick up a few pairs. It is a new season :)

clean.

jeans (GAP); white top (Ricki's); grey tank (Fairweather); burgundy jacket (Ricki's); cream heels (Payless) jewellery (gifted)

I love a clean look.

Simplicity - with the occasional twist.

I am in the midst of purging through my closet and am taking an honest look at what to give away and discard. All in the hopes of making sure I look like me each and every day.

The same can be said about my house. Last night, for instance, I cleared out, cleaned and organized kitchen cupboards. I do a few at a time - sparing about an hour - and then feel fabulous that it got done. I find this works for me instead of attempting to do it all at once, being exhausted and then not being able to enjoy my evenings with my loved ones.

I may have found the perfect solution for me and my time management skills.

Yay me!

five.

black pants (Reitmans); black dress (Banana Republic); black cardigan (Old Navy); shoes (Payless); gold chains (grandma); whistle chain (stole it from the b/f)

I was super duper feeling this outfit yesterday! I felt chic and comfortable. It could also be because I cleaned out my closet this past weekend. Oh yes. And actually got rid (well, donated) several items of clothing I have been holding onto for several reasons but never really wearing. I am very proud of myself :)

I am very much into layering right now - as you may have read in previous posts. I feel that it provides me with a bit of maturity and professionalism and will help me transition into bigger and better things at work. What's that old saying - dress for the job you want, not the job you have?

In other news, I have 5 followers. Woohoo! Not quite sure what that really means but it's kinda fun to see. So, thanks and welcome! Glad you seem to like what you see/read.

noir.

denim jacket (GAP); purple scarf (gifted); black pants (Reitmans); white sleeveless top (Ricki's); black boyfriend cardigan (Old Navy); grey tank (Fairweathers); diamond studs (Banana Republic); short gold necklace (gifted); long gold necklace (Costa Blanca); black fishnets (Shoppers Drug Mart); shoes (Payless); eyeglasses (Gucci)

This has been a black and white week. That's usually my go-to colour scheme when I haven't planned any outfits.

I love pairing a denim jacket with work clothes. Pretty much pairing it with anything other than other denim. Maybe it's an out-dated rule but I'm not at all a fan of jean on jean (except if it's coloured...like grey or black).

I am totally jinxing the weather by saying this but the sun and 16 degrees all week has put everyone in the best of moods...I never want it to end. Though I would love it to get hotter. I'm definitely not a girl of the cold.

hearts ♥ and dots....

black pants (Reitmans); polka dot top (HandM); shoes (Payless); diamond studs (gifted); silver chain (Walmart); charms (gifted)

I am very winter today. Funny since it's finally summer temperatures but it was just easier to grab the black and wear it. Plus, I'm trying to wear things to work that I won't be packing for vacation and that way I don't have to wash them to get them packed. There is usually a method to my madness.

Is it ever too early to say I Love You? And not the I love you's to my friends and family because I say that all the time to them. I mean between the manfriend/womanfriend you may have. I can feel that we're on the verge of truly ruly uly being in love and saying it - and it's been a little over 3 months. Well, actually, it's been 3 months, 2 weeks and 1 day. Ha!

Is it ever too early to know that I'm going to miss him like crazy? And I'll only be gone for 3 weeks yet all of a sudden am really sad to leave. But super excited to go. What horrible feelings to be feeling. We've been spending gads upon gads of time together and at first, we thought maybe we should wean (sp?) off the togetherness but then thought why should we do that?? Only to be more miserable before we need to be?

Freaking matters of the heart, eh?
Geez.

I used to laugh and make fun of those suckers who cried at airports and gushed about how they were counting down the days until they could be together again. Umm. My apologies. I may be turning into one. Eek! This is almost as bad as when I realized I truly am a girly girl. Double eek!

we're not in kansas anymore...

black pants (Reitmans); black and white top (Winners); ring (Aldo); earrings (Le Chateau); black and white heels (Payless)

Why am I not in Kansas anymore? I had a meeting this morning at our Governor General's office. She is the Queen representative in Canada...and they were installing a metal detector at the front entrance to her residence. Now, people have always been allowed to visit the residence and see a large part of the GG's home. It's just funny that after all these years, they have now decided there is a need for such a precautionary measure. I understand why but it was a little sad to think about. If it isn't safe at the GG's house - then where is it safe??

I woke up this morning, and spent a good portion of my morning thinking it was Tuesday. How great it was to find out in fact, it is Hump Day! And only 2 days left to the weekend! It's my birthday weekend as well as my goddaughter's bachelorette! It's going to be fun!! And I have some fun clothes to wear too! I hope to post some pics since there will be tons taken!

The weather here is FINALLY beautiful! Sunny and warm! While I love it, I also don't look all that forward to summer dressing but will make the most of it since summer isn't here for very long.

Hope you all have some sun where you are :)

picture perfect in purple

Tweed pants (Laura); Purple top (Walmart); black tank (Fairweather); brown and pink pumps (Winners); pearl studs (gifted); vintage-inspired ring (gifted)

My self-imposed challenge this week will be to try and not wear black pants. They are definitely a staple in my wardrobe and I have several different kinds of black pants (wide-leg, skinny leg, low-waist, high-waist, suit, etc) Today I am fashioning a tweed pair that are purple. They are super long and I always forget to hem them - my secret? Duct tape. I have turned many a girlfriend with long jeans onto the power of the sticky grey beauty. When I discovered that they come in mini-size at my local hardware store, I stocked up! They are great in a fashion emergency...real life emergency too.

My weekend was busy. I took Saturday afternoon for myself and shopped 'til I dropped a bit of cash. I ended up with tons of cute (and cheap) buys, plus 3 pair of shoes! One pair is a yellow pair of heels. I bought these last year and wore them out! I have been waiting for the store to bring them back and they did - so I jumped. I also bought 2 pairs of gladiator sandals - one's a snakeskin pair and the other is black leather with studs. I love rock glam! I'm hoping to channel it. Or try to channel it.

I'm going to take a second and talk about Payless. Now, I love Payless. My shoe obsession began with a pair I purchased at Payless. However, I walked in there on the weekend to check out some shoes that other bloggers have posted about. I found them - and then some! What bugged me wasn't the amazing selection that they now have - many designers are creating collections for Payless - but the prices made my jaw dropped. Literally I stood in the 81/2 aisle with my mouth agape. Shoes for $60. Nothing in the spring selection for less than $40. I'm no cheapskate - love a good deal - but what the heck is with the price increase? The quality hasn't changed all that much. Shoes still squeak; it isn't real leather; the synthetic materials make the foot sweaty and stinky. I do adore Payless but I'm not paying less. Especially when I also shopped at a boutique moments before and found quality shoes on regular price for much less.

It's just a little too crazy for me. I will still shop there but will be waiting for BOGO and for clearance.

To end on a positive note, it's my mom's 51st birthday today! We threw her a surprise bash last year for her 50th and she still talks about it today for which I am thrilled! Nothing like a good party for the ages :)
